Misha David @ 1 Week!

Yup, I am that mom.  I hope to post regular updates of Misha's growth and experiences for faraway friends and family who aren't witness to our daily gushing.


Baby's Firsts (Highlights Edition)  As this is Misha's first week of life, everything is a first!
-1st pediatrician appointment: regained birth weight + 5% of birth weight.  Some kind of record according to our pediatrician who swears that she "doesn't sugar coat."

-1st visit from family: Uncle Chris and his superhero girlfriend, Kali flew in Monday night.  As he laid eyes on two day old Misha, Chris's face was priceless.  Over the course of their visit, Misha watched carefully as we played many rounds of 7 Wonders.  He has developed his own strategy and plans to beat everyone as soon as he can talk.
-1st sponge bath.  We used the tub and accessories that Baka, Mike's grandma, sent us.  Apparently, she is the true master of bath time.  I look forward to watching her bathe Misha one day soon.
1st walk outside: Mike and I decided a little outing was in order.  We walked a few blocks and winded back to Forage and Parka- a super hip furniture store and connected cafe just a block away.  It was late afternoon as we drank cappuccinos and shared a butter pastry.  We were reminded of our afternoons in Italy last summer.

Misha loves..
Book: "Who Loves Baby?" This book is supposed to be a photo album but we have yet to put in photos.  So currently, the book consists solely of high contrast black and white patterns.  The book has no clear story line as it is mostly lines and dots, but it ends with a picture of a monkey face and this pleases Misha.
Music: His dad playing a one-handed lullaby.
Food: Breast milk!  Que obvio.  He likes it when I eat dairy queen.  Well, at least I imagine so.
Swinging!  My little snugabunny*** is a hit.  According to Amazon, 732 customers gave the snugabunny five stars.  These are well deserved!
Outfit: Brown sweatpants with a monkey face on the butt.  My duckling sweater from childhood.  Okay, really, his favorite outfit is the sleep sack swaddle***  Hands down.  Ordered a second one immediately.  (See above photo of swaddle and snugabunny!)
***These are also his parents' favorites to keep a sleeping baby...sleeping!!!

This shot truly captures the thrill of the finish line.   Last year, Misha completed the race with me and my mom in the "buddy heat."  Only a few weeks pregnant, I kept my mom company as she worked her way through her first 500 yard open water swim, 15 mile bike ride, and 5k run.  This year, we signed up as a "mother-daughter team" with each of us competing in our own age g
